These two book are not directly about Community Building but Flow is an essential part of living community and together these books present the Flow in life. Intellectual and thought provoking. (Flow: Harper & Row, New York 1990; The Evolving Self: Harper Collins Publishers, New York 1993)

Robert D. Putnam, Bowling Alone -The Collapse and Revival of American Community. A study done by Harvard on how socialization in the United States has changed over a number of years. To me, this is a very important book in its message about lack of commitment to social groups to the point many no longer exist. Television carries much of the responsibility. (Simon & Schuster, New York 2000)
